Reunion

Hello and sorry for the delay.

I would like to try to figure out a date for the reunion, I need your help since we all have to find the time.

I was thinking near the end of August?

Say the weekend of the 22nd or the 29th. I will contact the Golden Nugget and see if they will give us a discount. Nice place downtown close to lots of different casinos and shops.

Let's take a vote and see which date works best for everyone interested in going.
Looking forward to a great time.

Ok,
This is what I have for the rooms. Contact information and the location.
I will contact them and let them know to block some rooms for us. I will tell them 12 or so rooms, so let's get ready to party.

Mike,
We would be honored to serve as host hotel for a reunion of the Lojwa Animals! Group rates in August would currently be $75.00 per night on Friday & Saturday and $40.00 per night Sunday-Thursday for our South Tower rooms. The rates apply to single or double occupancy and are subject to an 11% room tax (subject to change).

If you would like to reserve a one-bedroom suite so you can socialize, the rate would be $175 Friday & Saturday and $140.00 Sunday-Thursday. I have suites available between August 10-19 or 8/24-27.

If you would like to reserve a block of rooms, let me know what dates you would like to come see us and I’ll be happy to put a contract together for you.

Best regards,

Tracy Morgon

Gary Pulis here. Alright, after talking with Ballbuster Mike this morning. My wife asked for the first time about Enewetak and when I got done telling her about it she wants me to see if it is something we can squeeze out. Oh by the way I was there from Mar to Oct 78 and was called snowball by the short timers when I fist got to Lojwa and the name stuck for the whole 6 months.

I email the Golden Nugget to find out about transportation to and from the Golden Nugget and airport. Below is the response I got.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for contacting the Golden Nugget. Unfortunately, we do not provide any type of hotel transportation. There are city shuttles provided outside of baggage claim. The city shuttles run about $10 per person per direction. Our bell desk can also set up a shuttle for your return trip to the airport, but they do need a 24 hour notification. There are also taxi cabs that can drop you off at the front doors of the Golden Nugget. A cab would run about $40 for up to 4 people. If you need further assistance, please contact us at the number provided below.
Thank you,

To all Lojwa Animals; Greetings and I hope that everyone is doing fine. For several years I have been working to have Enewetak Veterans included in the "Exposure to Ionizing Radiation Prgram through VA" and we have several bills recently introduced in Congress. I just got off the phone with the congressional staff and H.R. 1651 is a bill to include us in the VA program and identify us as Atomic Veterans. Last week H.R. 2573 was introduced "Atomic Veterans relief Act" to eliminate Dose reconstuction for Atomic Veterans. Kansas Congressman introduced H.R. 2553 for "Atomic Veterans Medal. I have received several emails from sons and daughters of Veterans "Lojwa Animals" needing help and we need your help so that our bill be passed this year in Congress. Please contact me at (671) 688-7277. Does anyone know a lowja veteran from Kansas? Hope to hear from everyone. Thank you!

Sounds good Robert,
I notified my congressman about HR 1651, he said he was not aware but would look into it for me and keep me informed.
I think it was Steve McKee who brought it to my attention.
Let me know if there is anything else that I can be doing to help.

Good afternoon fellow Enewetak veterans. I spent 168 glorious days on the main Island, although I did deliver repair parts to your Island serveral times. I've been looking for web sites etc, about our wonderful little Island and found this blog site. It's nice to see someone has created a place for all of us to talk. I had a stage 2 cancer melanoma mole taken off my wrist, not sure if that was caused by Enewetak, but wanted to find out if other people have experienced as far as health issues from Enewetak exposure. Is there any other web sites or blogs from people who served at Enewetak? I also have alot of photos, and would like a copy of the Short timers poster that was created at Lojwa. Thanks so much for this and I'll keep in touch
